Welcome

Our Mass Customized Learning (MCL) vision at this point is quite detailed but needs to continue to grow and expand. MCL is very new and its implementation demands significant systemic change . . . and that is an understatement.

We wish to make our Mass Customized Learning Blog highly interactive. We want to hear from you, we want to answer questions, we want to share experiences and successes. In short, we want to create a dialogue that will help us and help you to grow.

Our expertise includes leadership, future-focusing, strategic design/planning, the change process, and effective instructional strategies. Both Bea (McGarvey) and Chuck (Schwahn) have had extensive consulting experiences on these topics . . . mostly with schools but also with business and industry.

The purpose of our website and of our blog is to inform, to learn, and to influence. Our personal missions are “That People Grow.”

We often use the quote . . . from where or from whom we don’t know . . . “None of us is as smart as all of us.” We are passionate and committed to our work, but we are not “know-it-alls.” At least we hope not.

We are a small rural school serving a student population of just under 300 from grades 6 - 12. We are planning to offer MCL next year and many of us are eager to start and see the huge potential for students and teachers. What is causing this process to stall is that many teachers can't seem to visualize their day in any given week. They are so use to working within a timetable that a more fluid and flexible system does not sit well with them. Do you have any suggestions? Those of us pushing this forward are looking at using a Google Calendar to block in seminars when needed. For many this is too loose a system. Can we use a timetable of sorts?
